Vision of NHMC
(1) Preparing the Next Generation
New Heart Mission Church was planted with the vision of equipping and raising the next generation. Just as the Israelites were in exile, so many of our next generation are not in Christ. With the vision of the next generation coming back to Christ, we hold fast to the passage in Jeremiah 31:17, where it reads, “There is hope for your future, declares the Lord. And your children will return [home].” With that vision, New Heart was planted to receive and to prepare the next generation who are coming back to Christ, and to equip them to be the church that brings hope in this great city of New York.
(2) Building Families
New Heart Mission Church seeks to bring healing and joy to our homes through the message of reconciliation of Jesus Christ. Needless to say, so many relationships and lives are broken, and our homes are frustrated and dysfunctional. God desires to bring peace and restoration to the lives and relationships in our homes with the power of the gospel of Christ. It first begins with the restoration of the broken relationship with God, so that the person may be a channel of mercy to his family.
Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is God’s written revelation to men, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and authoritative and sufficient for faith and practice.
We believe there is one living and true God, undivided in essence, Creator of all things, infinite and self-sufficient, eternally existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that man was created in God’s image to glorify Him and enjoy his fellowship in love, but fell into sin, and became inherently corrupt, unable to save himself, and hopelessly lost.
We believe that salvation is a gift of God by grace through faith, exclusively founded on the merit of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross and not based on the merit or works of man.
We believe that Jesus Christ, God incarnate, lived a perfect life of obedience and through his sacrificial shedding of his blood on the cross, paid for the penalty of sin for all who trust in Him for salvation.
We believe that Jesus Christ had a bodily resurrection from the grave, confirming his deity, affirming the justification of believers, and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
We believe that the Holy Spirit works as the agent of salvation in the believer by fulfilling the will of the Father and bringing glory to Jesus Christ through the work of regenerating, adopting, convicting, indwelling, instructing, empowering, guiding, interceding, and sealing work of redemption.
We believe that the church is the formed spiritual body of Jesus Christ, composed of regenerated believers, of which Christ is the Head.
We believe that God unchangingly creates each person as male or female and that God established marriage to be exclusively the union between one man and woman.
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ and the bodily resurrection of the dead, at which Jesus will judge all mankind—the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the non-believer to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
Core Values
Worship
Worship begins with God’s great mercy upon hopeless sinners. Worship is to see His greatness, abundant love, and His wondrous presence, and we respond by offering up our entire life. It is to deeply love Him, obey Him, and follow Him. New Heart desires to raise up worshipers of God, who is full of mercy towards sinners.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1
Prayer
Prayer is the greatest Kingdom work the Church/Christians can do. Our great God has called His people to the ministry of prayer to carry out His great plan and purpose. God, who is the author of history, carries out His story through the prayers of His people. To pray is to be alive.
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. Matthew 26:41
Restoration
Jesus came into this world to bring peace between God and Man broken by sin. Sin has destroyed every relationship in our lives: first our relationship with God and also the relationship with our spouse, children, neighbors, and even with ourselves. New Heart was planted to bring restoration of relationship, first, with our Maker/God, which brings restoration of relationship with our families and neighbors through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18
Mission
Our God is a missionary God, and mission means to send. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, God gave (sent) His only Son…” Simply put, He is a missionary God, because He loves the world. This missionary heart of God is to be carried out through His Church, and New Heart exists to be obedient to this calling, here, in New York City.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

Teaching Elder/Lead Pastor
Pastor Paul Chung
Pastor Paul Chung is the lead pastor of New Heart Mission Church. It was in his early college years at Stony Brook that God spoke through a single Bible verse in Habakkuk that began his journey into ministry: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” Driven by this conviction, Paul enrolled into seminary, while also pursuing his original plans of studying dentistry, eventually completing his Masters of Divinity degree in 2002 from Biblical Theological Seminary. Working as a bivocational pastor, Pastor Paul served in ministry and practiced dentistry for 17 years, eventually going into full-time ministry when New Heart Mission Church was first founded. Called to serve the Greater New York region, Pastor Paul planted New Heart Mission Church in the February of 2009 with two God-given visions for the church: “Preparing the Next Generation and Building the Families.” Among many things, Pastor Paul seeks to raise up people who love God wholeheartedly, whether it be the first generation immigrant parents or the second generation children. Pastor Paul has completed and received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Biblical Theological Seminary in June 2018. Pastor Paul is happily married to his wife Ellen and is blessed with three children: Timothy, Daniel, and Elizabeth.
